More of God and Less of the world.
Do you ever notice yourself aimlessly scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or just Social Media in General? Here’s the thing, all of these things can be of good use. But it is also a way to distract us from God.
Now, I’m not saying that if you delete everything from your phone at this very moment you’ll feel closer to God. No. I’m saying, maybe it’s time to focus less on the world and more on the Word.
More World, More Tired
I find myself without time throughout my day. More and more I’m noticing just how tired I am. I’ve also noticed how spiritually weak I have been. And that’s ok, sometimes we have rougher patches than others. But, I’ve noticed that I tend to take my time off from being a mom and wife and use it towards literally hours of social media content.
COME ON! I know I’m not alone. We spend hours upon hours at times scrolling through Facebook. Then we exit out because there was nothing that caught our eye at that moment. Literally all to open it up again a couple of minutes later to see if anything has changed.
And let’s be honest, when we focus on the world, we forget about God. We spend more time opening up our phones than we do the Word. I’ve begun to realize that I’m so tired and worn out because I’m not filling myself up with God. And I’m supplementing that with the world.
More of God
I don’t want to be a woman who is so tied up in this world that I forget to please my Heavenly Father. Let’s not forget just how much God is patently waiting for us, just because He yearns to have a relationship with us. All while we are taking time, literally hours, scrolling through social media, He is waiting patiently for us to look for Him.
The Challenge to Get More of God
So I’d like to start a Challenge with you today. Let’s try to focus less on our phones and social media and open up our word more.
Try waking up earlier to read and if that seems too hard, or if you’re like me and are not a morning person, try spending the last of your day with God. Instead of opening up social media every time you look at your phone, try opening up the Bible and reading at least a verse! Earnestly look for God. We are tired and worn out because of what we are filling our lives with. And to be completely honest we haven’t spent enough time filling ourselves with the One who gives us life every single day.
Will you join me on this challenge? Comment and share this post! Let’s look for God together.
