Being a Homemaker
Here’s the list of a typical homemaker’s daily routine … or at least what mine tends to look like …
- Wake up
- Get yourself together (or at least brush you teeth)
- Start making breakfast
- The kids wake up and you serve them food
- Husband leaves for Work
- Play with the Kids
- Clean Some More
- Play Some More
- Make lunch
- Play (I think you get my drift here)
- Make dinner
- Clean up after dinner
- Shower the Kids
- Kids bedtime Routine
- You Knock Out
Being a Homemaker is hard
If you haven’t read my blog on “Traditional Christian Homemakers and The Truth about being one” I urge you to do so. You go through this flow constantly and sometimes we get tired of the same thing. And you know what, that’s ok. It’s ok to get tired sometimes. But remember although the task of being a homemaker isn’t easy, it’s so worth it.
The world typically views homemakers or their role as something insignificant. We love to praise women for their accomplishments and their career paths but look down on those who choose homemaking to be their career. Yes, I called it a career, because it is one. Based on salary.com a stay at home mom or homemaker should be making a typical salary of $178,201. Let’s be honest this job is a 24/7 job. All that we do, we do to help our husbands and raise children to be bright citizens of this world.
The great C. S Lewis once said “The Homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only- and that is to support the ultimate career.”
So to you homemaker who is tired, It’s ok, I feel you. But remember what you’re doing is something that is worth it. What your doing for your family is the greatest thing you could possibly do for them, You give you family a sanctuary to come home to after they’ve worked and studied all day. You give them a place to make memories in with you. At the end of the day that’s our goal.
Being a Home Maker isn’t easy, sometimes we aren’t acknowledged the way we would love to be and sometimes we get exhausted, but the reward is so worth it.
